Matchbox Twenty recently concluded a major Australian tour, thanking their fervent fan following for also catapulting “NORTH” to a #1 chart debut. The band received rave reviews for their live shows including Sydney’s Music Network which hailed, “…one of the world’s best groups are still having infectious fun and branching out over their long and glorious career.” The Australian dates followed a pair of sold out London shows including this year’s iTunes Festival 2012.
The 2013 tour celebrates Matchbox Twenty’s blockbuster album, “NORTH,” which exploded into the #1 position on the SoundScan/Billboard 200 after its first week in release earlier this year. Fueled by critical acclaim – as well as the hit singles, “She’s So Mean” and “Overjoyed” – the album’s unprecedented success marked the band’s first-ever chart-topper and #1 debut.
Matchbox Twenty’s fourth full-length studio recording and first all-new album in a decade, “NORTH” sees the band driving their pop-rock sound further forward, magnifying the indelible melodies, crafty lyricism, and glorious hooks that have defined their multi-platinum body of work. Matchbox Twenty – Rob Thomas, Paul Doucette, Kyle Cook and Brian Yale – lived together last summer in a house in Nashville where they collaborated on the new material before once again joining forces with the Grammy Award-winning producer Matt Serletic at his Emblem Studios in Calabasas, California. The result of their labors stands among the band’s finest, with songs like “Put Your Hands Up” and the top 10 sensation, “She’s So Mean,” marked by Matchbox Twenty’s instantly identifiable sonic approach and unadulterated high spirits.
In addition to more than 30 million records sold worldwide, Matchbox Twenty has also earned countless accolades, including five Grammy nominations, four American Music Award nods, the 2004 People’s Choice Award for “Favorite Musical Group.”

Tickets range from $39.50 to $75.

The St Augustine Celtic Music & Heritage Festival 2013

The St Augustine Celtic Music & Heritage Festival 2013

March 9 & 10, 2013!

The sounds of the ancient Celtic peoples of Scotland and Ireland are as alive today as ever at the St. Augustine Celtic Music Festival, March 9-10, 2013 atFrancis Field on Castillo Drive.

Find the Celt in you as you take in the sights, sounds and tastes of centuries of European history. Celtic clans from around the world show their ancestral pride, Highland games athletes demonstrate their mind-boggling strength, the St. Patrick’s Day Parade marches through the streets of the Oldest City’s Historic District, and vendors offer up Celtic cuisine and hand-made crafts.

But the hands-down favorite of the St. Augustine Celtic festival is the music. Scottish and Irish bands playing both traditional tunes and modernized renditions of the ancient Celtic music appear live on stage throughout the two-day festival – arguably the best collaboration of Celtic artists assembled in the United States.
We’re talking Scots-born Albannach, Ireland’s Dublin City Ramblers, and Jacksonville’s Beach’s own Rathkeltair and Spade McQuade & the Allstars, attracting fans from throughout Florida and Georgia, Savannah to St. Augustine, Orlando and The Villages. Did you know that Celtic music had a profound impact on American bluegrass and country? Aye, so if you’re thinking about missing this one, yer talking oot yer fanny flaps.

Valentine’s Day — History
Saint Valentine’s Day, commonly shortened to Valentine’s Day, is an annual commemoration held on February 14 celebrating love and affection between intimate companions. The day is named after one or more early Christian martyrsnamed Valentine and was established by Pope Gelasius I in 500 AD. It was deleted from the Roman calendar of saints in 1969 by Pope Paul VI, but its religious observance is still permitted. It is traditionally a day on which lovers express their love for each other by presenting flowers, offering confectionery, and sending greeting cards (known as “valentines”). The day first became associated with romantic love in the circle of Geoffrey Chaucer in the High Middle Ages, when the tradition of courtly loveflourished.

St. Augustine Chocolate Tour

Every Saturday during the months of January and February
The tour is 2 hours long (includes time at the restaurants and the guided trolley tour).

Guided journey of chocolate revelation!

Learn the history of chocolate and chocolate formation while sampling truffles, pastries and gooey delights from the finest chocolatiers in all of St. Augustine. You’ll think you’ve won Willie Wonka’s Golden Ticket as you step aboard our confectioner’s trolley to visit a chocolate paradise.
Before the tour gets underway, chocolate will be thrust upon you as we tell you the story of Peterbrooke’s famous “chocolate popcorn” and how it started their adventure in chocolate. Your tour de force will take you to several houses of culinary creation beginning with the Aviles Restaurant at the Hilton Bayfront, where you will enjoy the chef’s pièce de résistance. Then, on to the Casa Monica Hotel, where you will enter the lobby of a historic Flagler hotel to sample their own unique chocolate invention, while on your way to Claude’s Chocolates just down the hall. Claude’s is a French chocolatier which specializes in Belgian truffles and creamy ganache. Here, sample the Chef’s masterpiece, while learning the “fine art” of artisan chocolates. Now you are on to the renowned Raintree Restaurant, where you will get a lesson in chocolate tasting from St. Augustine’s original Chocolate Family, Whetstone Chocolates. And, just when you think you have seen it all, the heavenly Warm Chocolate Dome Cake is a tantalizing treat to top the tour. Hordes of people marvel at the lovely old-world ambience at the Raintree; but nothing you have ever experienced will prepare you for this unique embodiment of chocolate. Even when your journey has ended, your chocolate indulgence does not…you will leave this trance with a sample of the finest Whetstone Chocolates to carry you home to your dreams.
